Should I buy a human hair or a
synthetic hair wig?" |
|
All of our wigs are made of a synthetic, modacrylic fiber. The fibers are
specially blended to result in the perfect texture for each individual style.
Synthetic fiber can be permanently set into the style, so there is no need to
curl or tease the wig after washing. Human hair wigs must be styled
every day, and are much more expensive.

| ? |
Are the wigs comfortable to wear?
All of our wigs have some open-weave, stretch construction, which allows air
to circulate around the scalp, and lets heat escape, for a cool, comfortable
feel. The "LoveLites" collection is completely open, and extra
lightweight, with a soft, velvety lining along the front . All wigs feature
adjustable tabs which allow you to get the perfect fit. Most of the wigs weigh
between 1-1/2 to 3 ounces, although some very long styles weight a bit more.

How do I know if a new color will look good on me?
Somehow nature seems to give us the best hair color to compliment our
complexion. Unless you are just looking for a totally new look,
we recommend you stick with a color in the same basic range as your natural
color. As we grow older, lighter colors and lighter hair tones compliment and
flatter the complexion. I recommend you choose a color that is a little lighter
than your natural hair.
|
| ? |
How do pick just the right style?
Every style on the website features a general
description, and detailed specifications on the lengths, weight, size and color
availability.
If you are thinking of trying a completely different style, we recommend you
select something that will compliment your face shape; so that the overall
result is an oval silhouette. For example, if you have a round face, try a style
with a fuller top and sleeker sides, to thin out your face. If you have a long
thin face, try a style that has less volume on top, and is fuller on the sides.
An oval face can wear almost any style.

How do I style my wig to make it look like the photograph in the catalog?
Each wig is pre-styled; the curl, teasing and direction of the
wig "hair" fibers is carefully determined when the wig is made. No
need to curl, tease or set a wig. Your wig will come to you
carefully packaged in tissue, covered in a hair net. Just take off the hair net,
remove any tissue paper, and hold the wig by the back of the neck (where the
label is sewn in). Give the wig a gentle shake with the snap of your wrist. This
will bring out the basic style of your wig. All it takes is a gentle smoothing
with a brush or your fingertips. You can gently adjust it to just the look you
want after putting it on.

How do I clean my wig? How often should I wash it?
I recommend you use a wig shampoo to wash any synthetic wig. Wig shampoos are
specially formulated to be gentle to the modacrylic fiber of the wig, but still
clean it thoroughly. Just gently brush out excess wig spray buildup (if any),
and swish your wig in a basin of cool water with the shampoo. Swish again in
clean cool water to rinse, then gently roll the wig in a towel to absorb the
extra moisture. Never wring out, brush or comb a wig while it is wet!
You will damage the curl and teasing that are built into the wig. Then set
hang up, or rest it on a canister, bottle, etc. to completely air dry. Never
use a hair dryer. Excessive heat of any kind will damage any synthetic wig.
Avoid heated rollers, hair dryers, and curling irons. They are not
necessary, and will "frizz" the fiber beyond repair. Once the wig is
completely dry, just a shake and a gentle brushing will make it look new.
How often you wash the wig is up to you. It depends on many factors,
including how often you wear it, if you use wig spray on it and what type of
elements it is exposed to: smog, cooking odors, etc.
Just as a synthetic fiber sweater will eventually "pill", or look
fuzzy around the edges, a synthetic fiber wig will eventually lose it’s bouncy
new look.

Do I need to use a wig spray on my wig? Can I use regular hair spray?
The use of a wig spray is a personal choice. If you liked to use hair spray
on your own hair, you might want to use a wig spray on your wig, for that little
added control. It’s up to you. But, if you do choose to use a spray, I do NOT
recommend a regular hair spray. A wig spray is formulated to have less alcohol,
and be less damaging to synthetic wigs. It is also easier to wash out than a
regular hair spray.

How long will my wig last?
This, too, is dependent upon many things: how often it is worn, washed and
sprayed, the climate you live in, how well you care for it, etc.. Eventually you
will want to get a new one, and keep one for "just around the house".

Wig Care
Tips:
Spraying a little bit of water when you put your
wig on
will give it an unbelievable natural look. Just touch it up with either
your
finger or a pick and enjoy that natural look all day. Water is vital for
curly
and short wigs.
Synthetic
If your wig is synthetic:
· Wash your wig with lukewarm or cold water.
· Use any shampoo you like.
· Condition and air dry the wig.
· Do not use a blow dryer.
· When dry, brush again, and style the wig.
· You may use mousse or hair spray of your choice.
Note: Curly and wavy hair wigs are especially difficult for a non-professional
to handle. You may want to consider professional care for these wigs.
Half Human/Half Synthetic
Wigs made with any human hair will usually require professional care. If you
decide to care for it yourself, here are some tips:
· Wash the wig with lukewarm water.
· Dry the wig with a towel and brush immediately.
· Use your favorite shampoo, and always condition.
· Let the wig dry overnight.

Note: Curly and wavy hair wigs are especially difficult for a non-professional
to handle. You may want to consider professional care for these wigs.
Human Hair
Human hair wigs require a little more expertise than synthetic
wigs. If you decide you can do it yourself, consider the following:
· Wash and condition the wig with your favorite shampoo and conditioner.
· Dry the wig overnight.
· Brush the wig immediately.
· Put hot rollers carefully to style the wig.
· You may use any mousse or hair spray.
Note: Curly and wavy hair wigs are especially difficult for a non-professional
